The East Central North America Regional Programming Contest (ECNA RPC) draws students from colleges and universities throughout western Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, eastern Ontario, and Indiana (excluding the Greater Chicago Metropolitan Area). Winners selected from the ECNA RPC will advance to the ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest (ACM-ICPC) World Finals. Prizes, scholarships, and bragging rights are at stake for some of the world's finest university students of the computing sciences and engineering.
The ECNA RPC will be held on Saturday November 11, 2006. As it is difficult for some teams in the ECNA region to travel to a single site for the contest, the ECNA RPC will be held as a distributed contest hosted by the following volunteer schools across the region:

Because the last Tuesday of the month falls on Halloween, I have
decided to bump this month's meeting up a week to October 24th.
November's meeting will be earlier too, in order to accomodate our
INETA speaker, and there will not be a meeting in December.
This month (October), we have Drew Robbins, our Microsoft
Developer Evangelist, stopping by to introduce the future of
Windows UI development to us. Windows Presentation Foundation
will be released soon as part of the upcoming .NET Framework v3.0.

We all know and love .NET and the suite of technologies surrounding it. We've invested countless hours learning .NET and using it to develop complex applications. Occasionally, we'll catch wind of this "great new technology that will take the industry by storm", but more often than not, we ignore it because we’ve heard that story before. However, every few years, one of these new technologies gains enough momentum that it forces us to take notice.
